Kampfar Vocalist Dolk Announces Plans To Write Black Metal Book

Dolk, vocalist for Norwegian black metal act Kampfar, has announced that he will begin his new book looking at the history of the black metal genre. Dolk commented on the project by saying;

"This was not supposed to be revealed yet. But I decided to do so through my personal [online] profile. Even my bandmates don't know this yet. But I have now finally started my longtime plan to do/write a book. This has been an idea I had for ages now, due to all the questions I get from the 'media' about this theme/topic/period of time.

"I have been so tired, in a way, to tell parts of this story without being able to tell the whole story. So the book will be about the early years in black metal and about my side of the story of it all. This book will step on someone's toes, that's for sure. But it's my side of the story. This book is for those who are interested (and it's some sort of a soul and mind surfer for me personal). To the rest…Well, I don't give a fuck! It's all very early in the process yet. But I have decided to go all the way now."

"Anyway…This has been a long process for me and a big step to make it official. Besides my woman, you are the first ones to know this at all. "

Brazilian Black Metal: Miasthenia

Miasthenia was founded in the beginning of 1994, idealized by Hécate (vocal/guitar), Vlad ( bass/vocal) and Mictlantecutli (drums).

In 1995 they recorded the rehearsal-demo "Encanto do Sabbat" (Sabbat Enchantment) with the lyrics in portuguese, attracting the support of Sound Riot Productions on the distribution.

In 1996 recorded “Faun - Trágica Música Noturna” (Faun - Tragic Nocturnal Music) in which they included the keyboards to their compositions. Hécate took place on the keyboards/vocals and the bass and Vlad the guitars and vocals. They decided to invite Mist to take the bass because of invites to shows.

In 1998 re-released the demo "Faun - Trágica Música Noturna" through Evil Hord Recs in a split cd with a band from Rio de Janeiro Songe D'Enfer.

In 1999 the band had changes in the line-up. Vlad left the band and Hécate took all the vocals along with the keyboards. They invited Thormianak (Harppia former) to play the guitars. His influence from the 80's metal school added a strong personality to the sound of the band.

From 1999 to 2000 the band worked on the production of first album "XVI" released through Somber Music.

In 2004 they release the album "Batalha Ritual" (Ritual Battle) through Somber Music in São Jose do Rio Preto (SP) at AREA 13 studios with Gustavo Vazquez. In this year the band was invited to take part in a mini tour as opening act for the Belgian Enthroned and the Brazilian Evil War.

Mictlantecutli (drums) left the band in 2005. In December a new journey starts with the new drummer Hamon (Mythological Cold Towers and Spell Forest). Since then the band follows working on the composition of the new album.

In 2006 October the band took part in one of the biggest metal festivals in the country the "Brutal devastation" in Belo Horizonte.

In April 2008 the band releases its new conceptual album "Supremacia Ancestral" (Ancestral Supremacy) also through Somber music. Each lyric was inspired by a South American pagan resistance movement or sect against the indoctrination in the colonial South America and based on Pre-Colombian profanations and apostasy. At the moment the band is booking concerts in the entire country.

Trollfest new album out in Aprill

The Norwegian folk black metal band (troll metal as some people call it, this Finntroll inspired sound) will be realeasing a new album entitled "En Kvest For Den Hellige Gral", the album is set to be release in the 29th of Aprill.

On an interview about the album concept and artwork the band stated:

"Just like our second album 'Brakebein,' 'En Kvest For Den Hellige Gral' is also a concept album, which this time centres on the story of five Trolls who set out on a quest to find the Holy Grail that will reputedly deliver all the Trolls from a horrible famine. Exactly how it will do this is not by some heaven sent miracle, but by providing an endless food source in the shape of the hordes of Christians
who will come searching for the Holy Grail themselves! As you can imagine, this rather 'unholy' quest is a somewhat beer-fuelled, blood-soaked adventure in typical Troll tradition! And if you want to know what happens next to the brave questers, there is an epilogue in the form of bonus track on the digipack edition.

"When it came to actually illustrating the story of our five brave and adventurous Trolls for 'En Kvest For Den Hellige Gralm' there was only one choice we could possibly make, and that was Jonas Darnell. Ever since he created the evil Iron Duck for our 'Villanden' album, Jonas has been bringing the characters of the TrollfesT universe to life through his art. It then falls to Terje Johnsen to design and put together all of Jonas’ wonderful creations into a spectacular package. Terje has been part of the TrollfesT crew since Brakebein, and his work has earned him the honorary title of 'Andy WarTroll'."
